Moreton: an idyllic island escape

Escaping to Moreton Island for a weekend was the perfect way to welcome summer with open arms. If pristine, secluded beaches are your thing, you’re in the right place. It’s the third-largest sand island in the world, which zooms it up the top of my Island Escape List, easily surpassing the Greek Islands. The largest is Fraser, also off the coast of Queensland (lucky us!) but Moreton’s smaller size means it’s easier to explore all of the islands wonders – if you have a 4WD.

Otherwise, settle in at Tangalooma resort. Still surrounded by stunning beaches, Tangalooma is notably busier. I’m glad we stayed at the other end of the island in a little apartment/cabin at Castaways.

Ohhh, take me back!
